Embarrassment is an emotional state experienced upon having a socially or professionally unacceptable act or condition witnessed by or revealed to others. Usually some amount of loss of honour or dignity is involved, but how much and the type depends on the embarrassing situation. It is similar to shame, except that shame may be experienced for an act known only to oneself. Also, embarrassment usually carries the connotation of being caused by an act that is merely socially unacceptable, rather than morally wrong.

Is having high sexual desire an embarrassment for men?
Q. I am talking about men having high sexual desire. Is it an embarrassment? Do women have same sexual urges and desire as men? Or is this just men's weakness? What is women's opinion regarding this?

If I was immune to embarrassment, could I accomplish more than anyone?
Q. I think embarrassment is a huge part of our lives. If you think I'm wrong, it's because we do our best to stay clear of embarrassment with the same old, boring, awful routines. We unconsciously avoid embarrassment, so we don't feel it often, because the second we do, we dive right back into our "security blanket" routine. If I could stop being embarassed, then would I be extremely creative and innovative and capable? Would everyone? And is the way to stop being embarassed by letting all of my secrets get out in the open?

A. I think fear of embarrassment may cause us to behave and speak differently around others in order to avoid 'doing/saying something stupid', but I'm not sure routine falls into it. Routine is just a recurring sequence of events, methods and actions that we do repeatedly/continuously - taking a different route to work or having lunch at a different time can't cause embarrassment (?) If you were immune to embarrassment (in other words completely audacious and indifferent to others' opinions of you) then I'm not sure you would achieve more as such. You may be less hesitant or apprehensive over actions and not carry regrets over silly things you have done or said - but then again you could become a more crass, vulgar or obnoxious person. It's… [cont.]
