In psychiatry, rage is a mental state that is one extreme of the intensity spectrum of anger. When a person experiences rage it usually lasts until a threat is removed or the person under rage is incapacitated. The other end of the spectrum is annoyance (DiGiuseppe & Tafrate, 2006). Psycho-pathological problems such as depression increase the chances of experiencing feelings of rage (Painuly et al., 2005).

History

Research has shown that the human species has experienced rage since the initial stages of evolution; The fight-or-flight response to threatening stimuli shows this (Hill, 2002). Both men and women experience an overwhelming release of hormones when confronted with a threatening situation that will result in physical violence or fleeing from the threat. The threats faced in modern society have evolved since the origin of the human race but the fight or flight response remains the same. Rage is also a state of mind in which large amounts of epinephrine are released and the body, as previously stated, reverts to a more primal instinct. In this state of mind one doesn't think clearly; the brain processes one idea at a time and thus is unable to accomplish more, though in this state of mind it is motivated by emotions rather than personal goal.

Does rage feel good while it lasts? Is it a positive feeling?
Q. I understand how a rage can cause a negative emotion afterwards, in the form of guilt and feeling sorry. But it seems to me that while it lasts, rage is quite pleasant to experience.

A. Hello! if you can read this theres no god, First tell me how you managed to wright everything under your picture up side down? teach me this trick. You are very right about rage while it last can be pleasant. one of the reasons is that it allows us to feel dominant. this feeling is really deep down at the spiritual level the prominent desire to experience the self, if in the physical level we succeed in the act and dominate we feel good that we are great, this greatness is due to the fact that at the spiritual level we are really the supreme self ( a part of god). Acting it out in the physical and mental level we allow the spiritual level to experience it with in the limits of all three levels. we do all activities in life just to know… [cont.]

A. Take a deep breath. It's very understandable that your going through a rough time. You lost your baby. That would make any mother insane. I know if I lost my children that I would be really angry and depressed. Especially a stillbirth. And I'm very sorry your baby died. That's very heartbreaking. But you need to seek medical attention. And you need to do it now. You are depressed and angry. There are antidepressants that you can take to help calm you down. They will make you feel better. I had to take them because of really post partum that I had when my son was 5 months old. I think that you need to be medicated or else your anger and depression is going to get too out of control. And you don't want that. It's possible that the… [cont.]

A. Post partum depression can take up to a year after birth to surface, so it is a possibility. However, I would say it's more likely to be a result of your grief. You have lost a baby, it's only natural that you are emotional right now, and it will take a lot of time and support to come to terms with it. I think you should have a chat with your doctor about it. He/she can arrange for you to have some grief councilling, possibly even some anti depressants for a while. I'm very sorry for your loss, I can't begin to imagine what you're going through. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
