Anyone on R & S a Jedi?
Q. In England and Wales 390,127 people (almost 0.8 percent) stated their religion as Jedi on their 2001 Census forms, surpassing Sikhism, Judaism, and Buddhism, and making it the fourth largest reported religion in the country.[12] In the 2001 Census 2.6 percent of the population of Brighton claimed to be Jedi. -- Source: Wikipedia (of course)

If Congress passed a law that discriminated against Pastafarians, would the US Supreme Court strike it down?
Q. Or would it fail to recognise it as a religion? I believe that the US Supreme Court have a number of tests to determine whether an ideology constituted a religion. Would someone elaborate what those tests are? Would a law against the Illuminati pass or fail the same tests? What about those who wrote Jedi on their census forms. What are the boundaries of religion as protected by the First Amendment?

A. That's one of the problems with trying to "delineate" things through law. We try to insure that prisoners have freedom of religion, but does this include providing animals for sacrifice or allowing cannibalism? There is no real way to define what is a religion or what is not. For any religion that exists or can exist there are those that will vehemently protest that it is not a religion or that it is a evil cult. On the other hand, providing for all religions, as silly as they may be, protects any and all religions.

Does this dialogue do it for you?
Q. "Oh no my young Jedi - You will find that it is you who are mistaken about a great many things" For your edification:- do you believe?! Can you FEEL the force in life - when asked on a Census form what is your religion - do you fill in the word 'Jedi'? When is the next film going to be? A religion based on light and dark can be the only true religion surely? Is it easier to extinguish the light within than to succumb to the darkness outside? Do you feel balance and equilibrium - 'a state of rest or balance due to the equal action of opposing forces' i.e. dark and light - do you indulge in good and bad? If you do - then you have achieved parity! Is there going to be another BLOODY Star Wars film - I need another Star Wars… [cont.]
